HISTORY

Our philosophy: It is not the customer who should adapt to the system, but rather the system to the customer!

2023
After working in the freight forwarding industry for over 45 years, 31 of which were self-employed, our founder/owner/managing director, Mr. Harald Gerger, decided to hand over the management and the majority of his shares in kombi-kargo gmbh to his successors, Mr. Oliver Oschelda and Mr. Patrick Gerger and Mr. Dominick Gerger. Mr. Harald Gerger will continue to work as a consultant and advisor in the company.

2022
Market shifts, inflation, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, sea freight volumes from shipping companies that are sometimes ten times higher and transport times that are up to three times longer form the basis for another very challenging financial year. Our entire team always tried to cushion or mitigate these sometimes unforeseeable problems for our customers. Despite the very difficult environment, we once again achieved a very good operating result this year. We have now been part of the Austrian freight forwarding landscape for over 30 years – always striving for customer satisfaction and the best price/performance ratio. This was and is the guarantee for our success.

2021
Due to our solid equity ratio, we were able to pre-finance the massive price increases of shipping companies/transporters/freighters without outside capital and thereby offer our customers a fair cost structure in an overheated market.

2020
We are expanding our outdoor storage areas by a further 5,000 m², including a truck loading ramp on which we can handle up to 20 trucks at the same time. Our terminal now has over 21,000 m² of storage and handling areas.

We are renewing our car fleet and already operate 5 electrically powered vehicles. Our forklifts are also electrically powered. We invest in environmentally friendly heating and cooling systems for our offices.

Expansion of an office wing with 110 m² of office space.

Our 200 KWp photovoltaic system will go into full operation in summer 2020. In the future, we will produce over 250 megawatt hours annually and not only cover our own needs for offices, warehouses, fleets, heating/cooling, but also feed significant amounts of green electricity into the public grid.

Thanks to our broad customer base and investments we have made, we are able to record positive and stable business development even in the crisis year of 2020 (COVID).

2019
The purchase of another commercial property measuring almost 10,000 m² increases our area in Wöllersdorf to a total area of over 27,000 m².

Our self-store facility is being expanded significantly. This means that our BOX-IN customers now have almost 2000 m² available in the form of storage boxes (containers) and storage compartments around the clock – 7 days a week. If requested, our warehouse staff with forklifts and manpower will be happy to help.

We commission the planning for the construction of a 200 kWp photovoltaic system on the roofs of our warehouses. CO2 reduction is one of our goals with regard to our environmental management according to ISO 14001:2015.

Next Generation – Part 2: Mr. Dominick Gerger joins our company. After successfully completing his apprenticeship and additional training as a logistics clerk, he is fully committed to strengthening our team. Our warehouse staff is also being expanded due to constant developments in the warehouse area.

2018
We are celebrating 20 years of implementing the quality management system according to ISO. TÜV Austria has been supporting us as a certification body since the beginning.

Stable, successful and positive development in all business areas will enable us to have an excellent financial year in 2018.

2017
25 years of kombi kargo Speditionsges.m.b.H. – A success story like it’s written in the book! Starting from nothing with nothing, today we are faced with an owner-managed, financially independent company that has grown steadily from its own substrate.
Expansion of our “box-in” self-store facility. Conversion of our QM system to EN ISO 9001:2015 as well as acceptance and certification according to ISO 14001:2015 – environmental management.
Quality and the environment – things that are often pushed into the background these days – the main thing is that it should be cheap. From our point of view, the wrong approach, because it is precisely the quality that has led us to success. Since the environment has always been very important to us, we have decided to include environmental management as a standard in our processes in accordance with ISO 14001:2015. (of course TÜV certified)

2016
Additional office space will be built at the Wöllersdorf terminal. All business areas continue to develop stably, our “subsidiary” kombi kargo ocean is already outgrowing us (at least in terms of sales)! Here too, we have already achieved an equity ratio of over 50 percent. A big “thank you” to all the employees in the company, some of whom have been with us for 24 years

2015
More than 1000 TEUs will be exported to China and the USA this year! We are strengthening our transshipment area due to the strong export situation. We load up to 14 TEUs every day at the Wöllersdorf terminal. All customs formalities are handled on site, with the exception of fiscal customs clearance (4200)! It almost goes without saying – 2015 was also an excellent financial year.

2014
Increased staff in the warehouse area. Our company cars are now gradually being converted to alternative, environmentally friendly vehicles with electric drives. Expansion of our storage space by 1500 m2 in Wöllersdorf. Our “box-in” self-storage facility is being expanded due to the high influx. New monitoring systems ensure the best possible protection of our entire facility. Ongoing processes are constantly optimized. All areas of our range of services continue to develop positively.

2013
kombi kargo – Next Generation. Mr. Patrick Gerger strengthens our team in the “Finance and Accounting” department. Mr. Oliver Oschelda, who has been with kombi-kargo for over 18 years, takes over responsibility and management of our “Truck Division”. Kombi kargo ocean already handles over 1000 TEUs annually. We rent a warehouse near Hamburg with over 3000 m2 of covered storage space including an open customs warehouse (OZL). This means we can store your imports from overseas directly in the Hamburg area as customs goods. Once again we were able to record a successful financial year in all areas.

2012
Hard to believe, 20 years of kombi-kargo! All investments made to date (land, warehouses, equipment and other material assets) have been fully financed. Our overseas department will be spun off into an independent company – kombi kargo ocean gmbh. Under the leadership of Mr. Michael Zöhl, our “daughter” developed splendidly right from the start. With “OPERASIA FORWARDING LTD CHINA”, a forwarding company that has been operating in China for over 30 years, we were able to gain a high-performance and renowned partner.

2011
We are investing in additional specialist staff and increasing our overseas activities. New partners in Hong Kong, China and India will support us in this area in the future. Furthermore, we are now able to carry out all customs clearance at our terminal. All office spaces will be newly adapted. Two official apartments are being built on the company premises for our staff. 2011 – kombi-kargo’s most successful year to date. Sales increased by over 28 percent compared to the previous year.

2010
Further purchase of an industrial property measuring over 6500 m2, directly adjacent to our terminal. We now have 17,500 m2 of industrial/commercial property. This purchase gives us the opportunity to build our self-storage facility BOX-IN. 84 brand-new steel containers – mainly 20’ storage boxes – are purchased. This means we offer our customers constant access to their own storage units around the clock on a video-monitored site that is protected and constantly guarded. Of course, our “self-storage” customers are also supported with all logistical know-how. (Forklifts, warehouse staff, parcel and goods receiving, picking, shipping, etc.) We are now certified according to EN ISO 9001:2008.

2009
Despite difficult economic conditions (“financial crisis”), this financial year was, as usual, successfully completed. Our equity ratio increases to over 70 percent!

2008
The facade of the new warehouse building is being completed. This means that our warehouse and office buildings can finally be recognized by a uniform look. Blue/green – the colors of our logo – allow you to recognize our terminal from a distance.

2007
We are expanding our rack warehouse and already have over 4,000 pallet spaces in the new warehouse wing. A total of up to 6,000 pallet spaces are now available for our customers at the Wöllersdorf location.

2006
We achieve an equity ratio of over 60 percent. Stability lies not only in quality and performance, but also in financial strength. Further investments in modern warehouse equipment are being made. An area of more than 4000 m² will be asphalted for open-air storage. The purchase of 10′, 20′ and 40′ steel containers as well as office containers is made for customers who want their “own” warehouse.

2005
Partial renovation or redesign of our facilities. Renovation of the old office wing and our “old” warehouse gets a new sheet metal shell with insulation including modern sectional doors. Purchase of another “Kallfass” vending machine to strengthen our “copacking” area of responsibility. We are Basel II – mature and not only that!

2004
Massive investments are made in the machine park. From now on we are dealing with the final production and assembly of a wide range of our customers’ products.
